"Those young people from FAMU back in the 1950's decided, `you know what, we're tired of not being respected,'....and we're going to speak out," Obama said.
Senator Obama made an passionate case for a new generation of leadership, both at FAMU and in the White House.
"I believe the next president is going to have to lead in a whole new way," Obama said to a crowd of a 1000 students and 2400 other attendees. "Some people said that's naive and irresponsible. I said no, no, no, a strong nation and strong president are never afraid to talk to their adversaries."
