I received permission from Andrew Miller to post this here for those of you who are interested in supporting Mayport Village:Good morning Mayport supporter! Not much has happened since the last Mayport update, but I wanted to check in and let you know about some upcoming events.
1) On Monday, March 2, we will be showing our documentary "One Village, Same Ocean" at the Atlantic Theaters. This time we will have two showings, one at 6:20pm, and one at 7:40pm. Cost of admission has been lowered to $5.00 because we will not be able to provide Mayport shrimp. If you are a resident of Mayport OR if you attended the premier your cost of admission is FREE, so bring along a friend and enjoy the experience again! Before and after the screenings we will have sign-up sheets for more information on the issues, more information about the soon-to-be-released DVDs, and petitions.
2) Next Tuesday, March 3, the Land Use and Zoning Committee has the three ordinances at the heart of this matter on its agenda. Whether the agenda will change before then is anyone's guess, but please be assured that we are keeping an eye on the LUZ's progress. For future reference, if you want to look at upcoming agendas for LUZ or City Council meetings, simply go to this site:
http://citycirc.coj.net/coj/.
3) On Monday, March 9, we will have our third screening of "One Village, Same Ocean." This screening could be pivotal as the City Council might vote on the three big ordinances the very next day, and we would like to show them how this community feels about Mayport, and how it feels about the proposed cruise terminal.
4) We expect a response to our complaint from Jaxport and the City of Jacksonville by March 10, 2009.
5) The City Council will meet to POSSIBLY vote on the three
ordinances Jaxport has proposed. If the Council does vote on the matter then public comment will be allowed.
That is all for now. We are still seeking donations and
contributions. The support we saw at the movie premier was
outstanding, and you all helped us to raise over $2,000! But
litigation is costly, and if the City Council votes to approve the three ordinances we will be fighting THREE lawsuits at once. For more information on how to donate or become a member of the Public Trust for $25.00, please call me at (904) 247-1972 ext. 418, or email me at adm@publictrustlaw.org. Feel free to check out our website too!

Thank you!
